EICMA 2011

10 Nov 2011, Department Sales

As we're writing this news item the EICMA 2011 (Europe's most important motorcycle fair) is in full effect and already we're able to supply you with the latest Moto Guzzi news; the renewed V7! Aside from several optical changes like the aluminium wheels, restyled cylinder heads, cylinders and paint scheme it doesn't look too different from the V7 Classic, but looks are deceiving; the engine has been redesigned and produces 12% more power. This was achieved by modifying the cylinder heads by enlarging the valves and repositioning the spark plug hole. A brand new developed single throttle housing was placed and compression was raised from 9.2 to 10.2 Bar. Despite these changes the cylinder capacity wasn't increased, but stayed the same at 744cc. The gear box wasn't left alone as well; it still has 5 gears, but it shifts more direct, smooth and more silently. thanks to the lightweight wheels the weight was brought down to 179 Kg with all oils inside, but no fuel!!

In the pavillion the V7 is making pirouettes on an almost floating podium. How proud Moto Guzzi is of this bike can be read from the text on the side of the podium which states "World premiere". the shape of the wheels remind us of the legendary Le Mans models of the 70s.

Next to the standard edition of the V7 Moto Guzzi shows another special; the V7 Racer X; a V7 racer with tophalf and soloseat, straight from the 60's. The front double leading shoe drum brake is a small designer's joke!

The new engine and modifications are going to be implemented in the entire 750cc model line up, so the V7 Racer and Nevada can't stay behind and are being shown on one end of the pavillion. It's uncertain if the Nevada will be available in the shown colour, but special it certainly is! The third picture clearly shows the new engine with single throttle, new cylinders and cylinder heads.

On the left hand side the Griso 1200 SE and 1200 Sport 8V Corsa are prominently persent. The Griso SE received a new paint schem and looks even more exclusive in the matte silver/black paint scheme. The 1200 Sport 8V is showing off it's Corsa costume and has become available recently for the Dutch market as well.

In the right hand side of the pavillion we're closing off with a true triclore combo; green, white and red. The Stelvio NTX is shown in matte green, a colour which we are familiar with since the V11 Tenni and Griso SE. The basic edition of the Stelvio is shown in pearl white. In the center we come across a bit of eye candy; the on special order build California of the Jordan Royal Guard of Hashemite Court, equiped with a side car. This bike not going into production won't be a problem for most of us, but we do regret it couldn't be sat upon!
